I sprinted to the mailbox.
When was the last time your child did that?
A beautiful letter. Perfect packaging. Iconic emblem. Then: Devastated. Thank you for applying. I got rejected from my dream school. I can still tell you every qualification: 3.94 GPA, VP of Student Council, Captain, 13 Varsity Letters, 98th percentile SAT, NHS.
That was supposed to be the best day of my life.
I know how it feels like to wonder if things would have been different. I scored in the 98th percentile on my first SAT and never improved. In fact, I gave up on studying because I hated it so much.
Today, I help students improve so they don’t have to wonder what could have been.

Here’s How
If I spent 40 years trying to trick you about one specific fact, do you think I could? Welcome to the ACT & SAT.
Test writers make a living separating students into categories. 23. 36. 1200. 1470. Think you know the answer? Writers aren’t doing their job if they can’t trick you anyway. How many times has your student gotten a problem wrong, looked at the answer, said “Of course! How could I get that wrong?” and moved on? If you don’t know the answer to that I’ll tell you: it’s half of the questions they miss. And it’s why they never improve.
Most tutoring programs focus on testing strategies, content videos, and taking the same questions over and over until you can get them right. Students still get them wrong on test day. Why? The most common problem students face isn’t knowing how to do a problem. It’s knowing what the question is asking. My approach focuses on careful reading. Yes, even for math.
Understand how the test tricks you. Cut your mistakes in half. Want to cut out all the mistakes? You do. By cutting out simple mistakes, I make it easier for my students to focus on the material they don’t know and teach them what they’re really missing.
